Using DIRECT

Terms and conditions

Effective 23 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-23-secure

These terms apply to the rental contact marketplace operating under the name DIRECT. “Client” means a person seeking a property. “Owner” or “landlord” means the person who publishes a listing. Accept these terms and the disclaimer before paying, using replacement credit, or publishing a listing.

One payment. Up to five owners total if the original property is taken.

Your payment initially gives access to the original owner's contact. If, after speaking with that landlord, you learn that the property is already taken, report it from your paid contacts. Once both the landlord and DIRECT support confirm this, you can contact four additional, different owners without paying another connection fee.

1. What DIRECT provides

DIRECT connects clients with property owners. It provides listing information, payment-based contact access, and owner notifications. DIRECT does not enter into your tenancy agreement, act as the landlord, or promise that you will obtain a property. Any viewing, screening, deposit, rent, lease, or other rental arrangement is agreed directly between you and the landlord. A standard connection fee is not rent, a rental deposit, or a reservation payment. The separate Secure app reservation service is explained below.

2. Accounts and contact details

Use the service only if you are at least 18 and legally able to enter into an agreement. Register with accurate details, confirm your email, register a phone number you control, and keep your account secure. Clients, tenants and owners all need these account details before payments, listing publication or support messaging. Owners must have authority to advertise the property. Do not impersonate another person, publish misleading information, make false availability reports, or use contact details for spam or harassment.

3. Connection fees and payment

The connection fee is shown before checkout in South African rand. Current standard fees are R79 for rooms, R149 for bachelor, apartment, townhouse and cottage listings, and R199 for houses. For a Locked / Coming Soon listing, “Secure” charges a 5% app reservation fee (sometimes called the app deposit), calculated from the displayed monthly rent and rounded to cents. This money goes to DIRECT for app expenses, not to the landlord. It includes contact access; no additional connection fee is charged. It is separate from any rental deposit or rent agreed with the landlord. After verified payment the app listing closes to other clients’ payments. This app reservation does not guarantee a lease, owner acceptance or physical availability. Review the amount and these conditions before paying.

Paystack processes payments. Contact access is granted only after a successful payment is verified. An abandoned, pending, failed, or unverified payment does not give contact access or a credit allowance. Sample listings cannot accept payment. Do not pay a second time merely because confirmation is delayed: return to the payment confirmation page or request support review with the original payment reference.

A secure checkout is held for one client while payment is pending, to prevent competing payments. You can continue your saved checkout under “Your pending secure payments” in My account. Holds do not expire automatically because an issued payment link may still accept payment. If you abandon checkout, it fails, or setup is interrupted, contact human support with the payment reference for review. Do not pay again while confirmation is pending. Cancellation and refund requests require individual review; no blanket non-refundable policy is imposed, and your statutory rights remain.

4. Property taken: requesting replacement credit

  1. Speak with the original landlord and confirm that the property is already taken.
  2. Sign in, open “Your paid contacts,” select “Property already taken?” for the original payment, and explain what the landlord told you.
  3. The original landlord and a separate authorised support reviewer must each confirm the unavailability in the app. A client report alone, or just one confirmation, does not activate credits.
  4. When both confirm, four replacement contacts become available in your account. If confirmation is declined or still pending, the app shows that status. Reviewers can update an unapproved decision after further checks.

A landlord confirmation marks the property taken and removes it from the marketplace. Support may request information through its review notes. Approval has no promised turnaround time. Keep your explanation and contact details accurate.

5. Using the four replacement contacts

Select an eligible listing under “Replacement contact credits” in your account and choose “Use 1 replacement credit.” Each successful use gives access to one different owner's contact and sends that owner a contact request. It costs no additional connection fee, even if the selected listing has a different advertised contact fee. A replacement contact grants contact access only; it does not pay a Secure fee or reserve that listing.

6. Owner responsibilities and notifications

Owners must provide truthful listing and availability information, have authority to advertise, respond honestly to availability reviews, and avoid requesting payments through misleading claims. Contact requests are visible in the owner's signed-in inbox. WhatsApp alerts require the owner's consent and a reachable registered WhatsApp number. Delivery may be delayed or fail; a submitted alert is not proof that the owner read it or will respond. Owners should check their inbox. No owner revenue share or payout is promised by this service.

7. Personal information

DIRECT uses account details, listings, payment references, contact requests and review decisions to operate the service and keep a record of contact access and credits. After a paid or credit-funded contact request, the client's name and phone number are shared with that owner, and the owner's name and number are available to the client. Authorised support can review availability requests. WhatsApp notifications are processed through Meta; payments are processed by Paystack. Do not place sensitive personal information in listing descriptions or review notes. Support messages are saved so you and authorised staff can continue your conversation. AI support uses Netlify AI Gateway and OpenAI to answer app questions; messages and recent conversation context are processed to provide answers. Unanswered questions and requests for a person are queued for human support inside the app. The confirmed account for wealthyrockspecial@gmail.com and authorised support staff can access handed-over conversations and registered names and phone numbers. Do not send passwords, OTPs, card details or sensitive documents in chat. AI answers may be incorrect and cannot approve payments, refunds or tenancy agreements. WhatsApp support is not available until a support number is configured. Use received contact information only for the relevant property enquiry.

8. Problems, disputes and consumer rights

Use the signed-in paid-contact review process to bring an unavailable property to the landlord and DIRECT support. Message support through the app or email wealthyrockspecial@gmail.com. Include the relevant payment reference when reporting a related payment problem. Human replies appear in your saved app conversation; no response time is guaranteed. The replacement-contact policy is a service remedy for an unavailable original property, not a waiver of any refund, cancellation, dispute, privacy or other right provided by applicable law. Requests concerning incorrect charges or services not supplied require individual support review; the app does not automatically issue cash refunds.

9. Limits and changes

Listings are supplied by owners and availability can change. Read the disclaimer before relying on a listing. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded. These terms are intended for a South African rental marketplace and apply subject to applicable South African law, including mandatory consumer and privacy protections. Updated terms apply to future transactions; the recorded version remains associated with an existing payment. Already approved replacement contacts are not removed by a later terms update.
